Integrated Clinical Pathways for Sedated Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutics: An Epidemiologically Guided Approach to Ventilatory Support, Pharmacologic Stewardship, Medical Device Integrity, Radiologic Practice, Anesthesia Technology, and Nursing Coordination

Abstract
Background: Sedated diagnostic imaging and interventional therapeutics represent a high-risk, multidisciplinary environment requiring precise coordination to ensure patient safety and procedural success. Current practices remain fragmented with limited integration among key healthcare specialties.
Aim: This review presents an epidemiologically informed clinical pathway that systematically integrates multiple healthcare disciplines into a unified operational framework.
Methods: A narrative review was conducted to translate international guideline principles into actionable multidisciplinary workflows.
Results: The proposed model addresses the primary determinants of sedation-related complications. Ventilatory safety is enhanced through structured assessment and continuous capnography-based monitoring. Pharmacologic stewardship is optimized through individualized drug selection and compliance-driven audits. Radiological integration ensures synchronization between sedation depth and imaging acquisition. Anesthesia technology and biomedical engineering contribute through standardized equipment readiness and device integrity. Nursing functions as the central axis, facilitating continuous monitoring and recovery management.
Conclusion: The inclusion of biomedical engineering and pharmacy-driven stewardship represents a novel advancement over traditional models, providing a scalable framework for diverse clinical settings.
